Aliénor d'Acquitaine - a Biographical & Historical Immersive Experience
A queen with many lives. Free-spirited, educated. One of the richest women on the continent. A queen in two countries. She accompanies the King of France on his calamitous crusade, gets accused of infidelity. Sees her marriage annulled and remarries with Henri Plantagenet a few weeks later, thus tipping the balance of power between England and France thanks to her enormous possessions in lands and wealth. Deprived of her freedom, she continues to fight and will assume the reign of England upon the death of Henry II and during the absence for crusade of her son, Richard Lionheart, whom she ends up freeing by bringing a fortune in gold to his ransomers, in person. Come and meet this iconic queen of medieval Europe, in an immersive experience, as unique and feisty as its subject.
Combining images of existing works of art and new images animated specifically for the exhibition, a story in vignettes unfolds of an incredible life both from a historical and societal point of view, exploring in particular the position of a queen in the royal court in the Middle Ages.
